Turkish suffix -diğinden beri

We use -diğinden beri to express "since something happened."

The suffix -diğinden inflects for person, as shown in the table below.

Singular Persons (since I came, etc.)	Plural Persons (since we came, etc.)
1 geldiğimden beri	1 geldiğimizden beri
2 geldiğinden beri	2 geldiğinizden beri
3 geldiğinden beri	3 geldiklerinden beri

Here are some example sentences using -diğinden beri in context:

• Biz Ankara’ya taşındığımızdan beri, yani 13 yıldır, bu dairede oturuyoruz.

→ Since we moved to Ankara, that’s for 13 years, we have been living in this flat/apartment.

• Siz ayrıldığınızdan beri hiç karşılaşmadınız mı?

→ Haven’t you ever run into each other since you broke up?

• Sen son gördüğümden beri biraz zayıflamışsın. Hasta mıydın yoksa?

→ You have gotten a little thinner since the last time I saw you. Have you been ill/sick?

• Onlar Almanya’ya yerleştiklerinden beri Türkiye’ye gelmiyorlarmış.

→ Since they settled in Germany, they haven’t come to Turkey.

• Aydın borsada parayı bulduğundan beri tanıdığı herkesle selamı sabahı kesti.

→ Since Aydın made money on the stock market, he has stopped talking to everyone he knows.
